Types of Viruses

Word Macro

    Word MacroViruses are just like they sound.  They are macros that contain malicious code.  Once run in your word processor or spreadsheet they deliver their payload and start to spread from your machine.

Trojan Horse

    The classic Trojan Horse.  These viruses are sent to you usually in email.  They are designed to look like a friendly program or joke.   Trojan Horse Viruses come in all forms.  They can be used to steal passwords.  A common password stealing Trojan is called APS Trojan.  This virus steals the password from AOL users.  A hacker is then sent the login and password information.  They then use your account to spam other users with offensive material.  The result in this situation ends in the deactivation of your AOL account.  The only solution once your login information is stolen is to change user names and/or passwords.   

Worm

    A worm is a program that replicates itself without the use of a host file.
