How to delete a Virus from your Norton Quarantine

  • First open up your Norton Antivirus

  • The first screen that comes up is System Status.  In the list you will see quarantine contents.   This shows you how many files are in quarantine.  Double click on quarantine contents.

  • It now asks if you want to open the quarantine manager to manage quarantined files.  Click yes.

  • This now gives you a list of infected files.  When a file is quarantined it is usually not repairable.  If it is not a document file you recognize it is usually best to delete it.  To do this select the files you want to delete, and press delete on your keyboard or click the red X for delete.

  • It asks if you sure you want to delete the file.  Note:  Files deleted from quarantine cannot be recovered.

  • Once you have deleted all items in quarantine you can now close the quarantine manager.  This takes you back to the system status.  You should now have a green check by system status and 0 files in quarantine.

  • To be sure you have eliminated all viruses from your system it is a good idea to to a full system scan.  Click here for instructions on performing a full system scan.
