How to perform a full system scan in Norton Antivirus

  • The first thing to do is open Norton Antivirus.  This brings up the System Status screen.

  • Click options at the top.  On left side of the screen is a list of options.  Click on Manual Scans.  Do not click the plus next to Manual Scans.

  • On right hand side of the screen the options appear.  Under file types to scan you want to select all files.

  • Once this is selected click OK.  This saves the changes and takes you back to the System Status screen. The options are saved so you only need to set the all files one time.

  • In the system status screen on the left hand side select Scan for Viruses.

  • This brings up the scan for viruses screen which gives you scan options on the right.  You should have My computer already highlighted.  Click run scan now.  This may take it some time.

  • After the scan is completed a report screen come up.  At the top is should say no viruses found.  If a virus is found, there will be a box that appears that list the individual viruses found.   If you find a virus you may want to go here for some guidelines.  Remember the Hacker Hunter #1 Rule:  Don't Panic!!!
